Project Fitness GB

” Who are Project Fitness GB ”

Sean Hibbert – Head Coach.

Sean is Ex Military with a tour of Afghanistan and 12 year’s military experience to his name. It was after his tour of Afghanistan that Sean was found to have mild PTSD and anxiety. Sean not to be outdone started a new fitness journey which led him to CrossFit.
Sean soon realised the benefits of fitness for a healthy mind and retrained while still serving in the Army. After spending 6 year’s as a Physical Training Instructor he was then medically discharged. That led Sean to go back into education achieving his Level 3 GP exercise referral – Level 4 Back pain specialist – Level 1 in Nutrition.
Sean has since turned that passion into a new business but more importantly to help other’s. Not just physically but mentally too.

That is Sean’s background…

From here I ask Sean his plan’s for the future, what drives him onwards, also how he’s enjoying being a dad?

Future…

Before further restrictions were put in place regards Covid 19 I managed to grab some quality time with Sean, Lucy and their beautiful baby daughter Isla. I asked them how they coped with opening a new business in January, only month’s before a National Lockdown?!

Sean and Lucy had only recently moved into their family home 2 weeks before opening the gym too. It was stressful they both said so and a major worry!! One thing I’ve found out about Sean as a Coach and as a person he’s quick to adapt to change. Something that I’ve no doubt stems from his Military career.
During very uncertain times for many Fitness Businesses in the UK and Worldwide Sean & Lucy found online session’s as their lifeline. Building up new member’s slowly and surely they began to see some real positives from CV19. Sean openly told me that Lucy and himself had completely changed their outlook on the way forward for Project Fitness GB.
Sean’s favourite thing about the gym is the Community, seeing everyone help each other. Also seeing individuals achieve their goal’s or helping each other overcome mental barriers too. You can see on both Sean & Lucy’s face just how much that means to them both.
What they’ve created is a Community in Lucy and Sean’s words a family! One of the very first founding members is Ruth Jackson. Her own transformation story is an inspiring and remarkable one, not just physically but mentally too as Ruth told me! I will cover that in a separate blog after this one.

Being a Dad…

Best thing that’s ever happened to me, it’s made me a better person, more understanding, made me realise what is really is important in life and made me thankful for everything I have in life.
Isla is the best part of me…
It’s been a real pleasure covering Project Fitness GB in this blog. As someone who is passionate about the impact of fitness on people’s mental health. I wish them every success in helping people be a better version of themselves.
Sean Lucy and Isla thank you for your time.

I watched Sean take on the Assault Bike Test for 30 mins – 569 cals completed. He then kindly asked me to accept the test so I kindly accepted his offer.
Ruth told me that Sean leads by example!

A Dance with the Devil – Lunacy Runs.

It’s Saturday morning as I prepare my breakfast for the day ahead with some good muscle food. My mind focused on tomorrow morning’s event the name is in the title. 16 miles of the lovely Lincolnshire countryside in a loaded March 30lbs men 20lbs women – Tab – Yomp – Rucking – Hike whatever you prefer to call it.

You have the option of 8 mile or 16 mile I went for the latter option as it’s a distance I’m comfortable with. I would recommend 8 mile for most if they’re just starting out at these type of Events. I have done some of the more popular mainstream events https://paras10.com/http://thefandancerace.com/. Both of these draw large crowds and are good challenges for both Male & Female competitors.

Lunacy Runs is a new one for me and I relish the challenge ahead tomorrow with excitement and pre event nerves. The Race Director – Ally has placed a cut off time of 2:15 mins for the first 8 miles. If I am not under that cut off time my race is over.

I am starting to get my fitness back after 2 months out with health issues, my cardio is good but I’m short with my strength work, that may prove an issue in the last 3 mile who knows. Soon find out that’s for sure!

A good turnout considering the time of year and weather to be honest, I was informed the Race Director had messages to say competitors couldn’t make it for reasons unbeknown. A very friendly bunch indeed and I was made to feel very welcome from the off. The weather was well typical for the time of year.

A short walk to the start point from the Blacksmiths Arms in Rothwell ( superb food by the way ). The Race Director gave the warning stand by then moments later go, boy what a start it was too. This guy took off I mean sprinting the first 200 – 300 metres – initial thoughts he’s tapped in the head ( found out he’s ex Royal Marine explains it ).

The route has everything you could want a little road and track but the majority of it was trails. Lincolnshire is known for being pretty flat but Lunacy Runs pulled out a blinder with this route. Over 1000 ft in elevation doing the 16 mile – the last 8 mile is a reverse of the first 8 but self navigating. You’re given a map and numbers for emergencies but thankfully I didn’t ring for directions.

The conditions underfoot were horrific on the first 8 but the return was grim I’m not going to lie. Even with boots I couldn’t keep a good grip in the mud and wet grass making it physically more demanding of a challenge. This event by Lunacy Runs is harder than the Paras’10 at Catterick by a country mile or two at just 8 miles.

Anna Warner was the first woman competitor back in the 8 mile race and well deserved win it was too. A very strong performance and didn’t get drawn in by the quick start. Anna pictured left of centre before the start. The race pacer who was outstanding in the luminous top Verne is a genuine top bloke too. Race Marshals were superb giving each competitor great encouragement as they passed.

I have competed in some events over the years https://www.facebook.com/Lunacy-Runs-816840855020478/ is up in the top 2 for the challenge and zero litter policy by the Race Director. Only one other events company I’ve had the pleasure to take part in there 50 mile Ultra – The Highlife http://punkpanther.co.uk/

Lunacy Runs – A Dance with the Devil 10/10

The food at the this countryside pub is top drawer too after a hard challenging day out https://blacksmithsrothwell.co.uk/ worth it.

Lincolnshire be very proud.

Keto Supplements v 1stPhorm Supplements

Hi,

I’m just an ordinary Joe I am not a Sports Scientist or have any fancy letters after my name. This is my findings after trying some of the supplements from both companies. I have not received freebies from any of the companies above for any of my content – just as well or they might be asking for it back!

After the turn of the year I had started following a competitor I know from doing events together in the past. He was sponsored by Keto so I started looking into the diet side of things and their supplements – what can I say I’m nosey! I had some lumber to shift as I was a stone over weight from not doing any fitness for over 1 1/2 yrs.

I had done my homework on the supplements it recommended doing the diet before using their supplements. So I did and funnily enough by cutting out less carbs – bread – pasta – potatoes – crisps – biscuits I lost a stone in about 5wks. Felt really good about that too so I placed my order. Now the little personal touch goes a long way and Richard at Keto – Pro does that well and is a real good guy!

I received my order with a lovely note attached as shown in the picture below.

https://keto-pro.co.uk/

Now the Keto Performance pre workout I found worked well the Creatine too! I noticed I was getting better times in my tabbing and gym work and wasn’t feeling flat. So I was pretty impressed by it and actually did a blog on my thoughts about Keto supplements. I can only tell you how I felt at the time though which was pretty fucking good. Though I did mention one thing to my Coach Venessa Moffat at the time about a feeling I had – remember this at the end.

I hit a tricky patch with my diet and wasn’t as disciplined as I was with my training to be honest – that actually got me down! I was putting too much pressure on myself to eat this and not that ( see not just a women thing ), I would get annoyed and just eat more shit! So I packed in the diet and just continued to train the same but using the supplements. After ordering after the rebrand I had mistakenly ordered the wrong stuff and boy did I not like it..

So I stopped using the supplements and just continued with my diet of eating good & bad foods but in moderation. Obviously my training continued and I had completed my biggest goal of the year Paras’10 at Catterick supplement free. I managed a superb personal best beating my best time from 5 years back ( 12 minutes off time ).

1stPhorm

I have been following Derek Weida for some time on Instagram and on Facebook hell I even joined the Weida Group – some amazing and inspiring people in there it has to be said. Derek was doing his pitch on 1stPhorm on the stack he uses – I have to admit the guy could sell shit to a toilet though.

Anyways I could see the difference Derek had made to his physique the last 6 months or so and it’s impressive. So I found out A-list Nutrition stocked 1stPhorm here in the UK so I ordered myself the stack. Have to admit the service from A-list is top drawer too. I never noticed when I placed the order I got a free t-shirt because it was over a certain amount. What a bonus cause it’s great for working out in too.

https://a-listnutrition.com/

I started upping my training for an upcoming Challenge and so far I’m loving the stack. I have continued to smash more personal bests both at another endurance event Kielder Marathon (15 mins off time ) and lifting in the gym since using it. I reordered and bagged another t-shirt what can I say I’m shameless – by the way Level 1 Bars are off the charts good.

Now here is what I said to my Coach Ness at the time of using Keto and doing the blog. Ness I’m not sure if it’s just a mental boost by taking supplements – by doing that we trick our bodies into thinking we’re faster and stronger! 2 new PB’s one without supplements and 1 with.

I know there’s athlete’s who don’t use supplements at all and do really well too. Bottom line you do what’s right for you it’s your fitness journey after all don’t be swayed by other’s….

Me I will continue on my own path
